Google Buzz

Google Buzz is rolling out their launch this week, and while no one can be sure what the uptake and use will be, it has major implications for word of mouth marketing campaigns. Google Buzz is a whole new network and social media forum for word of mouth marketing because it is available for people where they already are (gmail) and it mirrors many of the most popular sharing and conversation functionalities of both Facebook and Twitter. In short, Google Buzz merges email with the sharing functions of Facebook and the conversation style of Twitter.

Right now you have to wait for the tab to appear on your Gmail account, but if you want to get going using Google Buzz you can go to the Google Buzz homepage and download the app to your smartphone.

Google Buzz Word of Mouth Marketing Ideas

1. Google Buzz – ready email content. Google Buzz is built on gmail so you already have a friend network. Anything you would normally email your friends and family about (already powerful word of mouth marketing) is now set up with additional sharing, rating and conversation options that make what you share, well, more share-able. The first thing you need to do is make sure anything you want to be shared is easy to email and in a good format when it is received.

2. Google Buzz Public and Private Sharing. Google Buzz lets you choose to share something publicly or privately. Depending on which is better for you, your product and your business, create content that makes people want to do that.

3. Google Buzz Images, Videos and Links. Google Buzz allows you to add images from the web quickly. It’s time to inventory what images come up in Google Image Search and make sure you have your best images out there for people to select. Same with Video.
